High-Quality Development: Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation works to achieve 'disruptive innovation'

Chinese President Xi Jinping has called for greater institutional opening-up in key areas, such as investment, trade, finance and innovation. He made the remarks at a key meeting on Tuesday, also calling for more support for those engaged in fundamental disciplines and cutting-edge research. In Beijing, the Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation, has found a way to do just that. Sun Ye has more.
This thin slab of "E-skin" is more sensitive to touch than our own skins; the researcher Li Rongfeng says if a mosquito lands on it, it can sense where each of the mosquito's feet lands, something that eludes us human.
Li also says that the development of the "E-skin" has progressed rapidly in the lab at the Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation, benefiting from the favorable conditions for the growth of cutting-edge technology.
LI RONGFENG Deputy Researcher, Advanced Sensing Technology Laboratory Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation "Here, we have a complete set of model for technology acceleration. The entire process, from creating original laboratory tech prototypes to developing engineering prototypes and ultimately manufacturing products, is seamless and unified. Coupled with our R&D team, I think we have developed a 50-percent faster development rate compared to traditional models. Meanwhile, the development of advanced sensors cannot be supported by a single discipline, it requires interdisciplinary communication. Our researchers come from various fields, including materials, electronics, computers, machinery, biology, and more. The multidisciplinary team here ensures our development."
Wang Duoxiang, the proud director of the center, says the center aims for "disruptive innovation." He says it has what it takes for more such crucial innovation.
WANG DUOXIANG Director, Jingjinji National Center of Technology Innovation "Disruptive innovation has very important evolutionary characteristics. The first is that it emerges from a wide range of sources, and the second is that its evolutionary path is highly uncertain. Based on these characteristics, we have established a national network for disruptive technology innovation. Our evaluation model, coaching methods, and approaches for optimization, among others, are quite different from traditional project organization models. In the future, we will cooperate across the Beijing, Tianjin, and Hebei regions, including the establishment of a platform and a university R&D center in the university cluster areas of Beijing and Tianjin. This is aimed at achieving original results and disruptive innovation. The second aspect is to select certain cities to build industrial transformation bases, while the third aspect is to cooperate with local enterprises to jointly conduct key technology research and development."
SUN YE Beijing "Chinese President Xi Jinping in May said that it's important to combine the scientific and technological advantages of Beijing and the manufacturing prowess of Tianjin to launch more core technologies and drive innovation. SY, CGTN, BJ."
